Remote Full-time
At ArenaNet, we’ve always believed that games are art. They have the power to communicate ideas and tell stories. They can change the way we think, reflect our cultures, and move us. As the developer of the award-winning Guild Wars game series, we’re proud to share our passion for the online worlds we’ve created with over 21 million players worldwide.
ArenaNet develops and publishes games for every kind of person, which means our games need to be built by every kind of person. We believe the best experiences come from working together, celebrating differences, and helping each of our team members shine.
We are looking for a Contract Korean Localization Editor to support localization efforts for our upcoming title, Guild Wars 3. Working closely with Localization, Narrative, Design, Audio, Production, and QA teams, you will help ensure the Korean player experience feels polished, natural, culturally authentic, and aligned with the creative vision of the game.
As a Localization Editor, you will review, edit, and improve localized game content across a variety of in-game experiences including UI, narrative, gameplay systems, tutorials, cinematics, live-service content, and marketing materials. This role requires strong linguistic expertise, editorial judgment, and a deep understanding of how localization impacts player experience.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Edit, review, and refine all Korean-localized content both in-game and out-of-game to ensure quality, accuracy, consistency, readability, tone, and cultural relevance, grounded in a deep understanding of the game’s lore, narrative, and mechanics.

Create and maintain localization resources, including glossaries, style guides, terminology databases, and editorial standards to ensure long-term linguistic consistency.

Ensure all localized content aligns with the established voice, style, and creative direction of the game

Serve as the linguistic quality owner, providing authoritative decisions on terminology, phrasing, and stylistic conventions.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Localization, Narrative, Design, Audio, QA, Production teams, and external vendor(s), throughout the localization process

Provide linguistic feedback on character voice, dialogue flow, and overall player-facing content quality

Ensure localized content supports accessibility, usability, and overall player experience goals

Manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and iterative development environment

Translate and localize in-game and out-of-game text as needed

Support linguistic QA, including bug triage, bug fixing, and implementation review as needed

Handle additional localization-related duties as assigned

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

2 years of experience in translation, editing, and/or writing in a professional setting.

1 year of experience in game or software development, localization, or QA.

Professional experience in localization, editing, translation, or linguistic QA within games, entertainment, publishing, or related industries

Strong understanding of Korean grammar, tone, style, and cultural nuance

Experience reviewing and editing player-facing content for quality, consistency, and readability

Ability to adapt tone and writing style across different types of content, including narrative, gameplay systems, UI, tutorials, and live-service content

Strong attention to detail and editorial judgment

Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams

Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in an iterative production environment

Passion for games and player experience (with an emphasis on Fantasy/RPG games)

NICE TO HAVE
Experience working on live-service or multiplayer games

Experience with CAT tools, localization pipelines, or localization management systems

Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows and in-game localization implementation

Experience supporting narrative-heavy or RPG/MMO-style games

Experience with localization QA or in-context review workflows

Familiarity with Korean gaming terminology and regional player expectations

Experience reviewing subtitles, VO scripts, or marketing/localization campaigns

This is a 1 year+ contract.
Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 26th by 10am PT. If the deadline is extended, the posting will be updated accordingly. If the position is filled before this date, the posting will be removed.
