Whakarongorau aims to be there when face to face health and social services cannot, providing consistent, clinically supported access to services for those in need or when people are unable to access other options due to location, time of day, financial or cultural barriers.Job Description:Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role This role provides support via various helplines (Shine, Family Violence, Elder Abuse, NZDF4U, Family Services Directory, and Safe to Talk/Kōrero mai ka ora) operating 7 days a week, including holidays. We encourage applicants with experience in Kaupapa Māori or Māori models of care.The role is located in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch offices, but we're open to discussing Work From Home or hybrid options for experienced candidates. Full-time or part-time applicants are welcome.Ngā haepapa matua - Key responsibilities Risk assessment followed by appropriate safety planning and referralsProviding non-judgemental support and psychoeducation within the context of family and sexual harmEngaging with callers using multiple communication channels such as phone, email, SMS and online chatSupporting callers when they are experiencing a high-risk situationCommunicating with external agencies (including emergency services)Accurate documentation of notes and relevant information on various databasesSupporting other team members in the Family and Sexual Harm Team during risk calls / risk engagements and providing de-briefing support where neededParticipating in quality improvement and service developments to ensure effective and safe service deliverySupporting the Family and Sexual Harm team and providing overflow support as requiredRequired to be able to answer calls, emails, SMS and online chat for our other Family and Sexual harm servicesQualifications:Mōu ake - About youYou’re here for meaningful mahi, supporting people impacted by family and sexual harm when it matters most. You bring trauma‑informed practice, excellent listening skills, and steady decision-making, with the ability to assess, respond to risk, and connect people to the right next step.
