Junior Software Engineer

They are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to work collaboratively on the Command and Control Incident Management Emergency Response Application (C2IMERA) program for the US Air Force, focusing on software development and delivery. The role involves designing, developing, and debugging software, while also participating in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodologies.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, troubleshoot, and debug mission critical software source code using modern software development languages and tools, such as javaParticipate in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parametersUse Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teamsSupport creation and updating of all relevant documentation and specifications for design, development and testingIdentify potential roadblocks and develop around themPlan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metricsDevelop maintainable code that matches specificationDevelop automated tests leveraging a continuous integration processOwn delivery of small parts of a system or applicationWork closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product developmentBuild software solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer firstSkillsBachelor's degree with 0-2 years of experience or a Masters degree. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeUS Citizen with at least an active Secret clearance or higher with the ability to maintain your clearance during your employment with LeidosHands-on experience with Java/C++ and object-oriented programming (applicants will be tested)Hands-on experience with JavaScript and JS frameworks such as ReactAbility to apply software development process fundamentalsStrong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniquesAbility to complete tasking independently with minimal direct supervisionAbility to work and collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplined engineering teamFamiliarity with basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON, SOAP, and WSDLFamiliarity with web application technologies, such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, etcKnowledge of a version control system (e.g., Git)Knowledge of Agile Development methodologiesFamiliarity with multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, LINUX, etc.)Familiarity with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.)Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)Familiarity with NoSql databases (MongoDB, etc.)Familiarity with server-side JavaScriptBenefitsHealth and Wellness programsIncome ProtectionPaid LeaveRetirementCompany OverviewLeidos is an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations.
