Junior Software Engineer

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Junior Software Engineer. The role involves joining a systems engineering team to define the next generation of space communication systems supporting US Space Force satellite communications, focusing on Systems Engineering & Integration activities.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and develop software prototypes and/or applications as part of a multi-disciplinary teamParticipate in the complete software development lifecycle: user story creation, design, development, automated testing, and operational supportCreate intuitive user interfaces that enable efficient data management and system oversightDesign and develop new visualization features to meet evolving end-user requirementsWork with complex algorithms to deliver optimized solutions for the end userDetermine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standardsSkillsAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this positionBS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience1-3 years of software development, including architecture, object-oriented design, coding, and testing, with strong understanding of the software development life cycleStrong experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, or GoFamiliarity with web applications with microservices architectureFamiliarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and othersProficient in using GitLab or other Tools for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborationExcellent problem-solving skillsStrong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologiesOrganization capability with ability to handle competing prioritiesStrong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skillsFamiliarity with Javascript frameworks such as Angular or ReactKnowledge and experience in Jira and ConfluenceExperience in implementing Agile Software Development methodologies for efficient and iterative project managementExperience with Docker, AWS and / or Azure, and Kubernetes for containerization, cloud services, and orchestrationBenefitsMTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.Company OverviewModern Technology Solutions, Inc.
