Junior Network Engineer

The Junior Network Engineer will support enterprise network operations, monitor performance, assist with routine operational tasks, and collaborate with network engineers to maintain operational continuity.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Support enterprise network operations by monitoring performance and assisting with routine operational tasks across LAN, WAN, wireless, and external connectivity environments
ā¢ Generate and maintain bandwidth and utilization reports, providing visibility into network performance and usage trends
ā¢ Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), availability metrics, and service performance to support SLA compliance and operational oversight
ā¢ Perform trend analysis to support capacity planning and identify potential performance or scalability issues
ā¢ Maintain network documentation, including configuration records, diagrams, and operational procedures
ā¢ Assist in preparing and distributing communications for planned outages and maintenance activities
ā¢ Support incident response activities by assisting mid and senior engineers with monitoring, ticket updates, and basic troubleshooting tasks
ā¢ Update and maintain records in enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow), ensuring accuracy and completeness of operational data
ā¢ Collaborate with network engineers and operations teams to support service delivery and maintain operational continuity
ā¢ Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance reporting accuracy and operational processes
Skills
ā¢ Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required
ā¢ Must be a U.S. Citizen without dual citizenship
ā¢ Experience supporting IT operations, network operations, or technical support functions in an enterprise environment
ā¢ Ability to create and maintain reports on network performance, utilization, and availability metrics
ā¢ Experience using reporting and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, dashboards, or similar platforms)
ā¢ Basic understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, and network performance metrics
ā¢ Ability to maintain technical documentation and operational records accurately
ā¢ Experience supporting ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) for tracking operational activities
ā¢ Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist with routine operational tasks
ā¢ Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze trend data for reporting and capacity insights
ā¢ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
ā¢ 1+ years of experience in network operations, IT support, or a related technical role
ā¢ An active Public Trust and/or DHS suitability is preferred
ā¢ Experience supporting federal environments
ā¢ Familiarity with network monitoring and reporting tools
ā¢ Basic knowledge of ITIL or ITSM processes
ā¢ Experience assisting with planned maintenance or outage communications
ā¢ Exposure to large-scale enterprise network environments
ā¢ Strong analytical and organizational skills
ā¢ Ability to work collaboratively in team-based, operational environments
ā¢ Effective written and verbal communication skills
ā¢ CompTIA Network+ or similar entry-level certification preferred
