Junior Financial Analyst, Random House Publishing Group (Hybrid)
Penguin Random House is seeking a detail-oriented self-starter to join their team as a Junior Financial Analyst. This role provides support to the finance team in managing and analyzing the day-to-day operations of the Random House Publishing Group, focusing on monthly reporting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis.ResponsibilitiesSupports RHPG Finance team and VP Finance & Strategy with departmental administrative needsSupports monthly financial closings, including preparation of publisher close packages, analysis of sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, and title countCreates monthly summaries of financial performance and key performance indicators for the RHPG and corporate teamsTracks and analyzes departmental travel and entertainment (T&E) expenses quarterlyManages quarterly Marketing spend analysis and assists marketing staff with updating marketing budgeting systemsAssists in the development of the annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts for the group, including model preparation and uploads to AnaplanSupports VP Finance & Strategy with presentations to divisional and corporate leadershipGenerates postmortem analysis of previous acquisitions/publications to help inform editorial decisionsProvides analysis to support production staff in making print and reprint decisionsEnhances and increases speed of monthly reporting, analysis and business intelligence utilizing software skills such as Microsoft Power BISkillsMust be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skillsMust have a solid understanding of basic financial and accounting principlesStrong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel (ex: lookups and pivot tables) and PowerPointExcellent organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritizeExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues across all levels and functionsAbility to take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team1 year of relevant work experienceDegree in Business or Finance/Accounting preferred (but will consider candidates from other degree backgrounds with relevant experience and keen interest in the publishing industry)Experience writing macros or using Visual Basic is a plusWorking knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Anaplan, and SAP preferredBenefitsMedical/Prescription drug insuranceDentalVisionHealth Care/Dependent Care Flexible Spending AccountHealth Savings AccountPre-Tax and Roth 401(k)Short and Long-Term Disability InsuranceLife/AD&D InsuranceCommuter BenefitsStudent Loan Repayment ProgramEducational AssistanceGenerous paid time offCompany OverviewPenguin Random House is a book publishing company that provides audiobooks, eBooks, and printing services.
