Jr. Software Engineer - 1222

Summary

This position follows established software engineering processes and works from established requirements to test and/or develop software components, subsystems, and system enhancements under the supervision of senior team members. The right candidate will provide input to detailed design and development work, perform system administration and other related software engineering activities as well as individually test the developed products to prove functionality.
Essential Functions
• Assisting with all aspects of software design and development
• Attending and contributing to project development meetings
• Developing innovative solutions
• Writing and maintaining code
• Troubleshooting software issues
• Creating and conducting development tests
• Working with the Integration and Test team to resolve issues
• Participating in code reviews
• Continually improving software development skills
• Generating and maintaining project documentation

Required Skills
• Strong analytical skills

• Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
• Ability to collaborate across multiple levels of engineers and senior leadership
• Windows and Linux development
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (i.e., requirements, design, code and test)
• Object Oriented programming experience (e.g., Java, C++, C#, JavaScript)
Desired Skills
• Experience with Development tools (e.g., Git/Github, SVN, Atlassian JIRA and Confluence)
• Database concepts (e.g., SQL)
• Modern web development skills (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, ReactJS, Angular, REST, websockets)
• Knowledge of data representation formats (e.g., XML, JSON, Protobuf)
• Virtualization knowledge/experience (e.g., VMs, Docker, Hyper-V)
• Experience developing U.S. military modeling, simulation, and training systems
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant degree.

Minimum 0-3 years of experience as software developer
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Current/active secret clearance preferred or ability to obtain secret clearance
