We are looking for a Backend Developer to join their growing and scalable team in The Netherlands. About the Role As a Backend Developer, youll play a key role in modernizing, architecting and scaling a platform that directly supports biodiversity and sustaina- ble land use. The system is well-established yet actively evolving. The system is a mature Python/Django-based platform integrated with mapping applications and real-time data exchanges with the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency). With a growing user base and increasing system com- plexity, were evolving toward a scalable, service-oriented architecture to maintain flexibility and continue innovation at scale. Youll collaborate in a multidisciplinary Scrum team alongside experienced developers, where deep domain knowledge and technical expertise combine. Your backend solutions will directly enhance the efficiency and impact of agricultural collectives in protecting biodiversity and managing landscapes. What you will do: Develop backend services in Python/Django to support nature and landscape management initiatives. Drive the migration toward a scalable, service-oriented architecture to handle growing user needs and system complexity. Collaborate closely with frontend developers, domain experts, and stakeholders in a multidisciplinary Scrum team to deliver practical, impactful IT solutions. Integrate real-time data exchanges and mapping applications to enhance the platforms functionality and user experience. About you: Bachelors or Masters level of working and thinking (HBO/WO) At least 3 years of backend development experience Strong expertise in Python (Django), Docker, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS Fluent/native Dutch + fluent English Nice to Have Test-driven development Frontend frameworks such as React or mapping tools like OpenLayers Benefits: A company-backed pension plan to support your future. 25 paid time vacation days including public holidays, with flexibility for personal days and life events. 8% holiday allowance.
