IT/OT Network Engineer in Renewables

Role Summary:
CleanAmps Energy is seeking a Network Engineer responsible for supporting IT/OT network infrastructure, cybersecurity initiatives, and corporate IT operations. This role will assist with the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of secure and reliable network environments throughout the full project lifecycle, including development, construction, commissioning, and ongoing operational support. The ideal candidate will collaborate across engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and corporate IT teams to support both enterprise and industrial network environments.
This position is primarily remote with required global travel to support project deployments, commissioning activities, and operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with network engineering activities including the design, configuration, and deployment of LAN/WAN infrastructure; procurement and implementation of networking hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls; and coordination of project scope, risks, and schedules to support seamless integration with utility-scale projects.
• Maintain and support network infrastructure by monitoring system performance, applying security patches and firmware updates, conducting reliability and cybersecurity audits, optimizing bandwidth and latency for real-time communications, and ensuring compliance with industry standards including IEC-62443, ISO 27001, and NERC CIP.
• Assist in deploying and supporting network infrastructure for utility-scale energy management system (EMS) projects, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, cellular devices, and fiber optic communications infrastructure. Assist with the integration and support of SCADA/EMS communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850, while troubleshooting and maintaining reliable communications between BMS, PCS, protection relays, and remote monitoring platforms for operational projects.
• Support corporate IT operations including onboarding/offboarding, SharePoint administration, Microsoft 365 support, Intune device management, DNS and connectivity troubleshooting, and day-to-day user support across enterprise environments.
• Assist with maintaining cloud infrastructure, managing access and security controls, documenting IT processes and procedures, and supporting the reliability and operational efficiency of corporate systems and services.
• Support and maintain cloud infrastructure across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability, performance, and security of cloud-based services and workloads.
Qualifications:
• Experience:
Background in firewalls, VPNs, switches, fiber logic, AWS integration, or SCADA/EMS systems highly desirable.
• Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail, including the ability to develop and maintain clear documentation and network/system diagrams. Capable of effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring assigned projects are completed accurately and to completion.
• Adaptability:
Demonstrates agility and flexibility by adapting to changing priorities and readily taking on responsibilities beyond the core scope of the role as needed to support team and organizational objectives.
• Technical Experience
: Working knowledge of key networking and infrastructure technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, switching, fiber optic systems, and cloud integration and management within platforms such as AWS. Experience with networking and security platforms such as Cisco, Moxa, Meraki, Juniper, Aruba, and Palo Alto Networks is highly desirable. Familiarity with utility-scale BESS SCADA/EMS environments and associated communication and control systems is preferred.
• Additional Knowledge:
Field experience supporting the installation and commissioning of industrial network systems is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of networking protocols, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory compliance requirements. Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
