IT Knowledge Management Support (Technical Writer) Remote / Telecommute Jobs

We are seeking an experienced IT Knowledge Management Support Specialist (Technical Writer) to support enterprise IT operations and Enterprise Management (EM) activities across the Military Health System (MHS). This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving technical documentation, knowledge articles, operational procedures, and configuration records to support enterprise system sustainment and modernization efforts. The ideal candidate has strong technical writing skills combined with a solid understanding of enterprise IT systems, change management processes, and structured knowledge management practices in a regulated DoD environment.

Responsibilities
β€’ Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge articles, system diagrams, configuration baselines, and release documentation.
β€’ Create and manage structured knowledge content supporting Enterprise Management (EM) processes, application packaging, configuration updates, and release validation activities.
β€’ Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
β€’ Maintain documentation repositories in accordance with organizational knowledge management standards and version control practices.
β€’ Support Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes by documenting change records, technical impact summaries, and release notes.
β€’ Ensure documentation reflects current configurations, STIG compliance updates, RMF-related control documentation, and system changes.
β€’ Coordinate with Systems Administrators, Engineers, IA Security personnel, and Architects to capture accurate technical details.
β€’ Support audit readiness by organizing and maintaining required documentation artifacts and evidence.
β€’ Assist in developing documentation templates, style guides, and governance standards to improve consistency and quality.
β€’ Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance documentation accuracy, accessibility, and lifecycle management.
β€’ Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
β€’ Active Secret clearance
β€’ Proven experience developing and maintaining technical documentation in enterprise IT environments.
β€’ Strong understanding of IT infrastructure concepts, including Windows enterprise environments, Active Directory, networking fundamentals, and system configuration management.
β€’ Experience supporting documentation within regulated environments (DoD, federal, healthcare, or similar).
β€’ Familiarity with change management processes, release workflows, and configuration management practices.
β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
β€’ Ability to organize large volumes of technical information into structured, searchable knowledge repositories.
