IT Application Analyst

Join Amazon's IT Applications team in Austin, USA, as an IT Application Analyst! We're seeking a talented and driven individual to play a key role in planning, executing, and delivering critical data solutions. In this role, you'll leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to help Amazon become an even more data-driven organization, empowering customers and driving business success.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical work of various specialists on projects.
Design, develop, and deliver scalable and efficient data solutions.
Ensure the quality, reliability, and security of data solutions through rigorous testing, monitoring, and improvement.
Develop and deliver high-quality data designs and pipelines to support business reporting needs.
Monitor data pipelines and proactively identify and resolve performance or quality issues.
Ensure data quality and integrity through data validation, error handling, and data cleansing strategies.
Collaborate with diverse teams to extract, transform, and load data from various sources (CSV, Excel, email connections, SmartSheet, etc.).
Partner with business clients, technical teams, and operations to define business requirements and deliver against high operational standards.
Develop and enhance software to improve business processes and meet customer needs within the overall system architecture.
Analyze and resolve operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose improvement ideas.
Document data design processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain a robust knowledge base.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
Experience providing oversight to data engineering projects.
Demonstrated experience building, developing, maintaining, and enhancing scalable data systems, including data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL pipelines with reporting solutions.
Extensive AWS experience, including hands-on experience with AWS services like Glue, AuroraDB (MySQL) - RDS, Amazon WorkMail, Amazon SES, S3, Lambda, Redshift, SQS, IAM, VPC, and infrastructure deployment.
Experience working with current data structures and Lambda-type models.
Proficiency in SQL, including writing and upgrading.
Familiarity with Open Source Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Pig, Flash, etc.).
2+ years of development experience in Python, Ruby, Scala, or other big data technologies.
Knowledge of software development best practices, including coding principles, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
Experience building reporting systems like QuickSight, PowerBI, or others.
Knowledge and experience building data warehouse reporting systems for Business Intelligence (any technology).
Experience with responsive design and UI development for data entry systems (writeback reporting systems).


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SmartSheet, Asana, HoneyCode, or PowerApps.
Javascript and/or Responsive JS development experience.
Experience as a Data Engineer or related role with a proven track record of extracting, transforming, and analyzing large datasets.
Experience building data products and integrating and managing data from various sources.
Query execution tuning skills using Unix profiling tools and SQL.
Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects, utilizing AWS innovations like Redshift, S3, EC2, data pipelines, and other big data technologies.
Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, columnar family databases).
