ISO Lead Auditor
This is an internal opportunity with Aprio, a top 20 CPA / Business Advisory Firm.
Role Title: ISO Lead Auditor
Location: 100% Remote (Must be US based)
Employment Type: Temp / Contract - (3-4 day audits with several weeks notice)
Compensation: Pay per Audit day - equivalent to $80 - $125/hr
• ****MUST have a Lead Auditor ISO Certification in one of the following:
• ISO 27001
• ISO 42001
• (Nice to have is 22301)
• **Primary focus is ISO 27001 & 42001
Summary:
Our ISO Certification practice is seeking experienced ISO Lead Auditors to join a flexible, on‑demand contractor network. This role supports short‑duration ISO audits and is ideal for seasoned auditors who prefer project‑based work rather than full‑time employment.
Engagements are intermittent and scheduled based on audit demand. Contractors will be brought in to execute audits efficiently within defined timelines.
It's Worth Your Time
• Paid per audit day with a clearly defined scope.
• Fully remote execution — audit stakeholder interviews, control reviews, and reporting all conducted remotely.
• Clean, execution-only work: no sales, no BD, no internal meetings beyond necessary scope alignment.
• Short-duration engagements (3–4 days) fit naturally alongside an existing consulting practice or interim work.
• Structured audit framework already in place — you show up, execute, and deliver.
What You'll Own
• Execute Stage 1 and Stage 2 ISO certification audits end-to-end within defined engagement timelines.
• Conduct live audit testing, stakeholder interviews, and controls/evidence review.
• Prepare and deliver Word-based Stage 1 and Stage 2 audit reports at the conclusion of each engagement.
• Operate independently within established ISO audit methodologies and certification standards.
Must-Haves
• Active ISO Lead Auditor certification in one or more relevant standards (ISO 27001, 22301, or 42001).
• Proven experience executing ISO certification audits independently — not internal audits only.
• Strong written documentation skills; comfortable producing audit reports in Word format.
• Ability to conduct live audits directly with client stakeholders, including interviews and evidence review.
• Professional judgment and comfort operating autonomously with minimal hand-holding.
• Availability to support engagements with approximately 3–4 weeks' notice.
Nice to Have
• Prior experience working within or alongside an ISO certification body.
• History supporting small to mid-sized organizations through ISO certification.
• Certification or experience across multiple ISO standards.
• Background in contract, fractional, or consulting-style audit roles.
