What We Look For In a ISEE‑ Upper Level Tutor
• Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of ISEE Upper Level sections including Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics Achievement covering algebra, geometry, trigonometry concepts, data analysis, and probability for students entering grades nine through twelve. Ability to explain stanine scoring, percentile interpretation, and essay evaluation criteria while preparing students for competitive secondary school admissions.
• Strategic Test‑Taking & Problem‑Solving: Skilled at teaching advanced vocabulary strategies, quantitative comparison techniques, and critical reading analysis for Upper Level ISEE. Guides students through complex analogies, multi‑step algebraic reasoning, geometric proof‑based questions, data interpretation, and constructing a well‑organized essay under time constraints. Emphasizes strategic pacing across test sections and targeting high‑difficulty questions for score maximization.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with ISEE Upper Level content and common challenges such as sophisticated vocabulary, abstract quantitative reasoning, and advanced mathematics beyond typical grade‑level curriculum. Adapts instruction using official ERB practice materials, targeted vocabulary study, and progressive difficulty problem sets to support seventh through eleventh grade students preparing for admission to selective independent secondary schools.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
