Investment Associate
Value Partners Investments is a Winnipeg-based investment firm that manages approximately $6 billion through retail mutual funds and investment counsel services. The Investment Associate plays a key supporting role in delivering a high-quality advisory and investment experience to high-net-worth clients, assisting with client meetings, portfolio analysis, and investment recommendations. Responsibilities Prepare materials for client and advisor meetings, including portfolio recommendations, transition plans, investment reviews, and financial projections Participate in client and advisor meetings, document outcomes, and execute timely follow-up on onboarding, allocations, planning, and service requests Support business development by preparing second opinions on external portfolios and assisting with the prospecting and sales pipeline Coordinate client and advisor touchpoints, proactively managing meeting preparation, scheduling, and requests Assist in portfolio construction, recommendations, and transitions, considering market conditions, tax implications, and internal models Prepare net worth statements, cash flow analyses, financial projections, and scenario/stress testing Review external portfolios to identify risks, opportunities, and alignment with client goals Conduct research on individual companies and investment options; support Capital Allocation Committee materials and meetings Contribute to investment content, presentations, and client communications in collaboration with Portfolio Management and Marketing Engage in structured learning and skills development aligned with the Investment Counsellor career path Collaborate with team members to share knowledge, improve processes, and support onboarding and training of new associates Skills Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) within one year of hire Finance education or experience in the Canadian securities industry is an asset Willingness to pursue additional credentials (CIM, CFA, CSC, or similar) Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail Clear, professional written and verbal communication abilities Client-focused mindset with the ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Technically proficient, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and familiarity with portfolio management systems and CRM tools Adaptable, resourceful, and motivated by continuous learning Benefits Career Development: Opportunities for career advancement, access to industry-leading learning programs and up to $2,000 annually towards education reimbursement.
