Intern - Software Engineer (Summer 2026)

The Intern - Software Engineer will develop code primarily in C# to support innovation for grid optimization related to electric vehicles and other devices, while learning and growing with IaaS technology within Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities Design and execution of code in C# to support product integration Participate in product design reviews to provide input on integration of functional requirements, product designs, and forecasting With support, analyze and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with and influence others to improve the overall design Develop and support the testing of product features throughout the entire development cycle Collaborate frequently with data team and project stakeholders Skills Education: enrolled in an accredited and related degree program with completion of at least two years of college-level coursework (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related) Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions Intermediate programming experience in C# Experience with Web Development Frameworks like Angular Working knowledge of databases Working knowledge of version control systems (ideally Git) Strong documentation skills Professional workplace communication skills Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a group Experience working in an Agile development environment Knowledge of standard enterprise level software development life cycles Work with relational databases like SQL Server or PostgreSQL Experience with Azure and .Net 9 Previous internship experience Company Overview Itron enables utilities and cities to safely, securely and reliably deliver critical infrastructure services to communities in more than 100 countries.
