Job Description:

Inpatient Coder, 40 hrs/wk, days

$4,500 Sign on Bonus!

Performs the medical coding of inpatient records to ensure proper disease classification, timely billing & reimbursement, verification of coding compliance with national standards & payor-specific guidelines. Follows up to CDI queries and data entry. Initial departmental orientation and training will be on-site in the Medical Coding Department, followed by the option to work remotely.

Qualifications:

1-3 years prior inpatient coding experience required within an acute care hospital Health Information Management (Medical Records) Department.

Thorough understanding of the revenue cycle and the various DRG Groupers necessary for case assignments & payor-specific billing/reimbursement.

Ability to utilize a personal computer and computer applications (such as Excel, Word) and other peripherals (such as fax, copier, scanner).

Prior knowledge of Meditech System beneficial.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including medical terminology to assist with Physicians queries.

Certification through AHIMA or AAPC as CCS or CPC-H required.

Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule as this is a remote coding opportunity after completing onsite orientation and system training as long as the candidate has prior inpatient coding experience.
