About the position

The Information Technology Specialist (Security) position at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts is a critical role responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the court's information systems. This position involves a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies to protect sensitive data and systems from unauthorized access, breaches, and other security threats. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures that align with federal regulations and best practices in information security. In this role, the specialist will conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate remediation strategies. They will also be responsible for monitoring security incidents, responding to threats, and coordinating with law enforcement and other agencies as necessary. The position requires a proactive approach to security, including staying current with emerging threats and technologies, and providing training and guidance to staff on security awareness and best practices. The Information Technology Specialist (Security) will also participate in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring that the court's operations can continue in the event of a security incident. This role is essential in maintaining the trust and confidence of the public in the judicial system by safeguarding the information that is critical to the administration of justice.

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement security policies and procedures for information systems.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in information security or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.

• Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.

• Ability to analyze security incidents and develop effective response strategies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are preferred.

• Experience in a federal or judicial environment is a plus.
