Evaluate siteâspecific applicability, determining whether a given emerging technology is technically and economically viable in a facilityâs processes.
Support technology landscape scanning, including assessment of new clean heat technologies and earlyâstage innovations.
Contribute to analysis and evaluation of emerging concepts such as load flexibility and gridâinteractive technologies (experience preferred but not required).
Develop clear, compelling reports, models, and presentations used by internal teams, utilities, and clients.
Collaborate with vendors, utilities, and stakeholders to collect data, validate assumptions, and refine technology assessments.
Communicate technical findings to both technical and nonâtechnical audiences, helping stakeholders understand the practical and strategic implications of emerging technologies.
Use digital toolsâincluding AI, Copilot, Excel, and other modeling platformsâto accelerate analysis and documentation.
(This role includes a mix of analytical work and stakeholder engagement, with approximately a 50/50 balance over time.)
Required Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in technology performance modeling, including understanding realâworld vs. theoretical equipment performance.
Handsâon experience with industrial process modeling or unit operations modeling.
Demonstrated ability to conduct technoâeconomic analysis (TEA).
Engineering or analytical background (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Process, or related).
High-level analytical proficiency in Excel or similar modeling tools.
Preferred Technical Skills
Experience with clean heat technologies (industrial heat pumps, electrode boilers, electric ovens/dryers).
Knowledge of utility energy programs, decarbonization strategies, or industrial energy efficiency.
Consulting experienceâtechnical communication, client engagement, and stakeholder facilitation.
Exposure to startup environments, innovation ecosystems, or earlyâstage technology evaluation.
Familiarity with emerging industrial electrification or decarbonization markets.
Exposure to load flexibility, gridâinteractive technologies, or demand-side energy strategies (niceâtoâhave).
Soft Skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical analysis into businessârelevant insights and clearly explain complex concepts to nonâtechnical audiences.
Collaborative and comfortable working in highly crossâfunctional, fastâpaced environments.
Detailâoriented but able to prioritize effectivelyâunderstanding when an 80% solution is appropriate in iterative, pilotâdriven environments.
Curious, selfâdirected learner who is eager to grow, take on new challenges, and expand responsibilities over time.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity in earlyâstage program development.
Consultative mindset and confidence interacting directly with utilities, industrial customers, and vendors.
High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust in clientâfacing situations.
