Incident Response Team, Network Engineer
Description:
• The position is the first line of defense to handle and mitigate network related issues that can possibly impact eBay’s customer experience.
• The role is expected to have base level proficiency in eBay’s datacenter, backbone, Internet connectivity, security controls, traffic management and application stacks behaviors in order to cross correlate and troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively.
• The role will also need to execute basic changes in the network infrastructure to instrument organic growth and capacity restore.
• Ideal candidate will need to learn and understand existing mechanism and work on evolving them continually through appropriate automation and tools.
• Unique opportunity to join the platform engineering team of one of the largest global e-Commerce companies to learn how large scale networks get engineered, built and operated within datacenters, backbone and network security layers.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals like TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6
• Basic knowledge of routing protocols like BGP, OSPF etc.
• Knowledge of network protocols like ARP, DHCP, DNS, TFTP etc.
• Understanding of Routers, Switches, VLAN, WAN, Internet Connectivity.
• Base level experience in Linux/Unix systems and open source tools.
• Knowledge in languages like Python etc.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to cross-correlate events and troubleshoot issues quickly.
• Experience in working on HW platforms from vendors like Cisco, Arista and Juniper is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent required
• Certification in JNCIA, CCNA or equivalent preferred
• 1-2 yrs experience in hands-on router or switch configuration preferred
• Knowledge of network technology fundamentals like TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLAN, CIDR, Netmask, required
• Knowledge of network protocols like BGP, OSPF, TACACS, SSH, DNS, ARP, DHCP, TFTP required
• Knowledge of languages like Python, unix shell etc. required.
