Job description: Approximately 58% of our students come from Spanish speaking households and approximately 13% have been identified as English learners (ELs). The English Learner Program Lead Teacher, under the supervision of the school principal and the Division of Educational Services, is responsible for assisting with the implementation of specialized services and support at their respective campus for the purposes of meeting the linguistic, academic, and cultural needs of EL students and their families, promoting excellence in curricular and instructional practices that are differentiated for ELs, and have a direct interest in aligning policy and advocacy initiatives to meet State and Federal compliance mandates.

Coordination:

Work with the District Coordinator ? EL, building administrator(s), and state agencies to inform and facilitate Emergent Bilingual Education programming

Advise the administration on ordering and distribution of curricular material for EL programs

Advocate for equitable and high-quality instruction for all ELs

Be a proactive problem solver and a supporter of continuous improvement

Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to ELs law including preparing reports for school and state compliance purposes and reporting data to the District office

Maintain EL student records and other documents that pertain to Emergent Bilingual Education Programming

Participate in IEP meetings, when necessary, sign in as bilingual specialist, and provide meaningful input around linguistic and cultural consideration throughout the IEP for dual identified EL/DL students

Collaborate with District Coordinator ? EL, outside consultants/specialists, and school administration to provide appropriate trainings for paraprofessionals and staff

Collaborate with other staff regarding District-Wide Assessment (DWA) pertaining to ELs, including but not limited to ACCESS Language Assessment and WiDA Language Screener

Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding curriculum and instruction for ELs

Share current research and best strategies in teaching ELs with the school teaching staff

Assist in developing and creating standards-based (applicable content standards and WIDA) unit/lesson plans

Demonstrate knowledge of state content standards (CCSS, NGSS, WiDA ELDS) etc.

Assist with the selection of interventions for ELs for Tier 2 and 3 of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

Assist administration and teachers with ongoing communication with parents of students in the EL program

Serve as a resource for general program teachers, teachers in programs for ELs, and all other stakeholders

Collaborate with the school administration in all areas related to EL programs

Support with identifying and assessing all potential EL students

Review and update PowerSchool reports to ensure that all ELs are appropriately coded for State reporting purposes

Maintain and update EL bilingual student records

Support with the coordination and monitoring of EL students, Exited EL students, and EL students with parent refusals.

II: Communication

Attend bi-weekly, regularly scheduled District level EL Program Lead Teacher meetings with the District Coordinator ? EL

Serve as the liaison with school administrators, EL teachers, and outside agencies keeping them abreast of challenges and successes in the area of school student needs and Emergent Bilingual programs.

Promote and coordinate activities that support the inclusion of students with disabilities throughout the District and in the community.

Notify District Coordinator ? EL of Emergent Bilingual Education Program needs.

Participate in Bilingual Parent Advisory Council Meetings, as needed, to promote student, family, and community engagement opportunities.

III: Qualifications

Hold a Bilingual and/or ESL PEL endorsement
