POSITION SUMMARY:

Position Title: IBM Sales Engineer

Job Summary: The IBM Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting sales efforts by providing deep technical expertise and consultative guidance on IBM’s software, hardware, and cloud solutions. This individual will partner with account executives to understand client needs, deliver technical presentations and demos, and architect IBM-based solutions that align with customer goals. This is a fully remote position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties:
• Partner with the sales team to drive revenue growth by serving as the technical lead throughout the sales cycle.
• Understand client business challenges and translate them into technical solutions leveraging IBM technologies (e.g., IBM Cloud, Red Hat, IBM Storage, Watson AI, Power Systems, Security, etc.).
• Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concept engagements.
• Respond to technical RFPs, RFIs, and questionnaires with accuracy and strategic insight.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IBM’s product roadmap, competitive landscape, and partner ecosystem.
• Act as a liaison between the customer, sales, and IBM technical support or product teams.
• Support post-sales transition by collaborating with delivery and customer success teams as needed.
• Represent the company at IBM events, user groups, and technical forums.

Requirements:

Required:
• Strong understanding of IBM products, including Cloud Pak solutions, Red Hat OpenShift, Watson AI, Power Systems, and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Experience designing enterprise solutions and conducting technical discovery sessions.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• IBM certification(s)
• Ability to travel up to 25% for customer engagements and events.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with federal or regulated industries (healthcare, finance, public sector).
• Working knowledge of containerization, Kubernetes, and DevOps methodologies.
• Understanding of modern security architectures and compliance standards.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
• 5 years or more of experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or solutions architecture, preferably with IBM or a related technology stack.

This is a fully remote position, and candidates must be located within the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia area to accommodate occasional in-person meetings and collaboration.
