Human Resources Coordinator
Islands Restaurants is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support various HR functions in a fun and fast-paced environment. The role involves onboarding, managing HRIS, handling unemployment claims, and ensuring compliance with HR policies.ResponsibilitiesManages the HR email inbox and delegates to the appropriate HR representativeAssists the restaurants with processing rehires and answers onboarding related questionsServes as the primary E-verify administrator, monitors I-9 compliance, and assists the restaurants with the TNC process and reverificationsProvides timely response to unemployment claims via claims management vendor and may assist with unemployment hearingsManages all guest incidents by documenting the incident, following up with the guest, reporting to insurance, responding to claims adjusters, and maintaining the guestâs fileCompletes workersâ compensation tasks by documenting the injury, responding to claims adjusters, creating modified duty agreements, and maintaining the employeeâs fileResponds to employment verification requestsManages the companyâs training platform and tracks employeesâ compliance training statusResponds to all EDD requests (disability claims, paid family leave claims, benefit audits, etc.)Responds to all subpoenas or employee requests for copies of employee filesProcesses new 401(k) enrollments in the HRIS system monthlyReports on various data such as workersâ compensation, birthdays, anniversaries, and minor employeesManages multiple HRIS functions in the areas of onboarding, profile management, password resets, documents, checklists, I-9, and E-verifyCollaborates with the HR team with special projects as neededSkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent1+ years of HR or relevant experience preferredHR certification or coursework is a bonusBilingual English/Spanish preferredIntermediate computer skills: Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, HRIS (Paycom)Ability to quickly learn other computer programs such as HRIS related softwareManage multiple tasks under limited supervisionEffectively work individually, in a team, with short timelines, and under pressureAbility to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentialityExcellent interpersonal skillsProfessional written and verbal communication with all levels of staff and vendors on a daily basisBasic understanding of State labor laws and knowledge of Islands operationsBenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision benefitsVacation time accrual401K with company match529 College Savings PlanHybrid schedule once training requirements are metOne-on-one development discussionsCompany OverviewIslands restaurants is a casual, dining restaurant chain that specializes in burgers, fresh cut fries, and specialty drinks.
