Hospice Chaplain (PRN)

Remote Full-time
About the position

At Lifted Hospice, our mission is to help people live life to the fullest by delivering compassionate, clinically excellent end-of-life care. We are committed to dignity, comfort, and quality of life, walking alongside patients and their families. Our culture is built on trust, unity, and joy, serving from a place of favor and recognizing the sacredness of our work. As a Chaplain, you will serve a sacred role, offering spiritual presence, peace, compassion, and support to patients and families. You will provide personalized spiritual care in various settings, assess spiritual needs with sensitivity, offer prayer or counseling when invited, and support individuals from all faiths, cultures, and beliefs. You will also coordinate with local clergy and faith communities upon request. Your role involves carrying peace into every room, creating space for meaning, connection, and dignity, and helping patients feel seen beyond their diagnosis. You will support families navigating the unknown and remind the team that this work is sacred, with presence, kindness, and faith anchoring and uplifting others.
• Responsibilities
• Assessing spiritual needs by listening with compassion to understand each patient’s and family’s beliefs, values, concerns, and spiritual goals.
• Providing spiritual support through prayer, counseling, and presence to bring peace, comfort, and meaning, honoring personal faith traditions and preferences.
• Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) by participating in meetings and helping shape care plans that reflect the whole person.
• Documenting assessments, visits, and interventions clearly and accurately in the clinical record and plan of care, in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Supporting families by offering grief and anticipatory loss support, helping loved ones process emotions and find hope, meaning, and spiritual connection.
• Coordinating with community clergy and faith groups as appropriate, and helping families access outside spiritual resources when requested.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of hospice spiritual care, participating in continuing education, and supporting quality improvement efforts.
• Requirements
• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) preferred; endorsement or ordination by a recognized faith community strongly encouraged.
• Experience providing spiritual care in hospice, healthcare, or ministry settings (1+ year preferred).
• Grounded and compassionate under pressure—able to offer respectful spiritual care across beliefs and cultures, communicate with clarity in vulnerable moments, and make sound decisions in real time.
• Collaborative and professional—confident working as part of an interdisciplinary team and documenting care clearly and on time.
• Knowledge of local spiritual resources and willingness to coordinate clergy or faith support when requested.
• Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance.
• Benefits
• Paid Time Off
• Employer paid life insurance policy
• Employer contributions toward employee health and dental insurance
• Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and both short-term and long-term disability coverage
• 401(k) Plan — includes discretionary profit-sharing contribution(s)
