Role Description
The Registered Nurse Education Coordinator serves as a member of the FirstChoice nursing leadership team. This position will be working remotely.
Position Purpose:
ā¢ Develops, designs and implements the FirstChoice Iowa Regional program educational plan.
ā¢ Assists in the development of the FirstChoice educational programs in collaboration with the site-specific resources.
ā¢ Facilitates staff competency in providing relationship-based care by using adult learning methodology.
ā¢ Works to assess, plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate skill acquisition and the learning process of system-wide employees.
ā¢ Work activities include orientation, preceptor development and programming, continuing education, staff development, mandatory education, and new product/new process education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ā¢ Facilitate Learning: Nurse Educators are responsible for creating an environment that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor outcomes.
ā¢ Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization: Nurse Educators recognize their responsibility for helping nursing staff develop and integrate the values and behaviors expected.
ā¢ Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies: Nurse Educators use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning.
ā¢ Participate in Course/Program Design and Evaluation of Outcomes: Nurse Educators are responsible for formulating and evaluating course outcomes, and designing courses/programs that reflect contemporary health care trends.
ā¢ Function as a Change Agent and Leader: Nurse Educators model as a change agent.
ā¢ Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement in the Nurse Educator Role: Nurse Educators recognize their role is multidimensional and that an ongoing commitment to develop and maintain competence in the role is essential.
ā¢ Engage in Scholarship: Nurse Educators acknowledge teaching is a scholarly activity.
ā¢ Function within the Educational Environment: Nurse Educators are knowledgeable about the educational environment within which they practice.
ā¢ Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.
ā¢ Helps identify problems and offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.
ā¢ Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, employees, and visitors in St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Follows HIPAA policies and procedures.
Qualifications
ā¢ Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of nursing practice and education normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
ā¢ Five (5) years' experience in a Nursing department with increasing responsibility and interest in education, practice and quality.
ā¢ Minimum of one (1) year in a formal Nursing Educator role.
ā¢ Must have current Registered Nursing License.
ā¢ Ability to continuously learn and seek professional development and growth through journals, professional local, regional and national affiliations, continuing education programs, seminars, and workshops to keep abreast of trends.
ā¢ Experience in designing and developing various types of training and curriculum, and training trainers to deliver content.
Requirements
ā¢ Pay Range is $74,672.00 - $112,673.60 annual gross salary.
