[Hiring] Insurance Verification Specialist @Equip Health
Role Description
The Insurance Verification Specialist will be responsible for managing initial benefit/eligibility verifications for Equip patients during the admissions process as well as changes of insurance during a patient’s treatment. The Insurance Verification Specialist will act as a liaison between insurance companies and Equip’s Admissions, Utilization Management, and Finance teams and ensure accurate treatment information is communicated to both payors and internal stakeholders.
• Develop collaborative relationships with insurance companies/payors to verify benefits and eligibility.
• Enter and update patient demographics, guarantor, and insurance information in company systems.
• Respond to inquiries from insurance companies and internal team members.
• Work collaboratively with the RCM, finance, accounting departments, admissions, and utilization management departments.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of healthcare experience with billing, insurance verification, or utilization management required.
• Knowledge and experience with EMR and billing software programs required.
• Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements for patient information.
• Ability to maintain and protect confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to consistently follow processes and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational awareness, adaptability, and conflict management skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment and navigating ambiguity.
• A passion for living Equip’s mission and values.
Physical Demands
• Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel.
• This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone.
• Sit or stand as needed.
