Role Description
This role involves performing patient registration and pre-registration of scheduled accounts, verifying insurance coverage and benefit information within the billing department.
ā¢ Enters new patients and existing patient's data into the computer.
ā¢ Verifies patients' insurance, collects co-payment and provides receipt for patient.
ā¢ Obtains complete and accurate demographic and financial information from a variety of sources.
ā¢ Provides demographic information to insurance companies and calls physician's offices as needed for pre-certification.
ā¢ Notifies patients or family members of any insurance coverage issues that may result in coverage reductions.
ā¢ Notifies patients of co-payments, deductibles or deposits needed.
ā¢ Provides patients with estimated cost for services.
ā¢ Finalizes the appropriate data for accounts.
ā¢ Verifies patient eligibility.
ā¢ Assists in account creation and scheduling of patient appointments.
ā¢ Assists patient or directs them to the correct person to help with charity care or payment plan information.
ā¢ Complies with all elements within HIPAA and the Privacy Act.
Qualifications
ā¢ High School Diploma or GED.
ā¢ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Internet.
ā¢ A knowledge of chemical dependency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities is preferred.
ā¢ At least 1 year of medical insurance verification experience.
ā¢ At least 1 year of customer service experience.
ā¢ General knowledge of ICD 10, CPT and HCPCS codes, and medical billing processes.
