Role Description

This position is responsible for guiding and supporting health information functions and services at designated facility(s) or functional areas within Banner Health. This position will support the achievement of assigned key performance indicators, including data analysis and development of action plans when needed. The role is responsible for successfully managing the operational activities of Health Information Management Services (HIMS), including:
• Hiring staff
• Goal setting and performance measurement
• Monitoring and measuring staff competencies
• Assigning work
• Training staff
• Corrective action

This position promotes a collaborative, open, and inclusive work environment within a highly integrated organization on matters related to health information operations. This position may work with facility leadership related to facility-specific issues and opportunities. This position will identify opportunities for workflows to enhance related functions, which will be provided to upline leader(s) for consideration.

Qualifications
• 3 years' experience in HIM/medical records; preferably working with HIM ambulatory workflows
• Prior leadership experience
• Degree in HIT/HIM or other healthcare related program

Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must have partially or fully completed the educational requirements towards a degree in health information and certification with the American Health Information Management Association
• Must possess three plus years of relevant education/experience in HIM
• Requires demonstrated leadership skills and a proficiency level with records management and regulatory requirements in the health information management

Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's degree is preferred
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification in an active status with American Health Information Management Association is strongly preferred
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred
