Higher Education Math Transformation Consultant

Remote Full-time
Job Summary

The Higher Education Math Transformation Consultant works as an Independent Contributor to support schools through a structured intensive and implementation process designed to help institutions scale best practices across culture, systems, and classroom. This role facilitates evaluation, strategy development, and implementation planning with cross-functional school teams, guiding clients through complex institutional change with a done-with-you approach. The Consultant builds trust, manages stakeholder dynamics, and helps schools make decisions in the right order so changes are adopted effectively and sustainably. Success in this role depends on strong relationship management, facilitation, project management, and the ability to adapt guidance to each school’s context rather than using a cookie-cutter approach.

• Build trust and rapport early so clients view Almy Education as a credible peer and partner.
• Facilitate productive discussions around institutional change, balancing urgency with stakeholder readiness.
• Guide clients through sensitive conversations with empathy and confidence.
• Manage stakeholder dynamics and competing priorities throughout the engagement.
• Lead or contribute to special projects that fall outside Almy Education’s standard engagement model, including development of trainings, resources, communities of practice, and other strategic deliverables tailored to client needs.

• Lead evaluation and strategy work across culture, systems, and classroom.
• Help clients examine current practices to identify barriers and make decisions in the right sequence.
• Use research, personal expertise, and internal frameworks to tailor recommendations to each institution.
• Lead clients toward clear decisions on areas such as course offerings, placement, advising, registration, and classroom-related changes.

Project Implementation
• Oversee agendas, follow-up communications, documentation, and meeting recordings as appropriate.
• Use the blueprint and related documents as sources of truth for decisions, owners, timelines, and progress.
• Monitor progress across full-group meetings and subgroup workstreams during implementation.
• Escalate issues to Lead Consultant and help client teams move from discussion to operational execution.
• Partner with Leads and internal team members to problem-solve project challenges and adjust approaches as needed.

Education and Skills
• Master’s degree in subject discipline, or related field (advanced degree a plus).
• 3-5 years experience in higher education, education reform, student success, or institutional transformation strongly preferred.
• Experience facilitating complex client-facing projects, consulting engagements, or organizational change initiatives.
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and navigating resistance in high-change environments.
• Proficient with Asana (or similar), Zoom, and Google Workspace; quick to learn new tools.
• Thrives in a remote, fast-paced, consulting environment; highly organized and self-directed.

Core Competencies
• Relationship building and trust development.
