About the position GDIT is seeking a Help Desk Specialist to provide 24x7x365 service desk support for a Federal customer in Washington, DC. This role is part of an IT modernization and sustainment program within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The specialist will ensure optimal performance, security, and usability of systems by conducting necessary technical support activities. The position requires onsite work and involves a specific work shift from Wednesday to Sunday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Responsibilities • Provide user support and customer service on company-supported computer applications and platforms. , • Use a ticketing system (ServiceNow) to document and create all incoming Incident and Service Requests. , • Troubleshoot issues and advise on appropriate action. , • Ensure prompt resolution of issues and escalate to Tier 2 or shift lead as necessary. , • Track all issues to closure and respond to user requests via phone and email. Requirements • 4+ years of related experience in IT support or help desk roles. , • Technical background with experience working on service desk teams supporting IT services. , • Experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy, SCSM, or ServiceNow. , • Strong oral and written communication skills. , • Technical certifications such as Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), CompTIA Security+, or ITIL Foundation are desired. , • 3 years relevant experience with an Associate's degree or equivalent experience. Nice-to-haves • Experience in working with a ticketing system (desired). , • Technical degree preferred.
