Field Abstractor – HEDIS Location: Chicago, IL Contract duration: 3 months Schedule: 8am to 5pm (M-F) Job Description: The Field Abstractor works under the supervision of the HEDIS Coordinator and is a key member of the medical record review team. This role is responsible for obtaining and conducting accurate, comprehensive medical record reviews in support of the HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) project. All reviews are completed in accordance with NCQA guidelines and technical specifications. Job Requirements: β€’ Clinical experience required β€’ Knowledge of medical terminology β€’ Data entry and/or typing experience β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills β€’ Proficiency with PC applications including Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes β€’ Excellent customer service skills β€’ Auditing experience preferred Duties & Responsibilities: β€’ Comply with established procedures for scheduling, requesting, and reviewing medical records onsite at physician offices, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities β€’ Initiate fax covers pages and provider letters to document medical record requests β€’ Schedule and document onsite appointments using the shared calendar and coordinate with the team lead β€’ Locate and review assigned medical charts, copy required supporting documentation per specifications, and accurately enter data into the designated software system β€’ Utilize multiple software applications to support HEDIS operations, including data entry and updating chase statuses β€’ Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements β€’ Participate in medical record abstraction and inter-rater reliability (IRR) processes as required β€’ Maintain an abstraction and data entry error rate of less than 5% β€’ Meet with the HEDIS Coordinator and/or Quality Improvement (QI) Specialists to discuss HEDIS initiatives, open issues, and IRR results β€’ Perform additional duties as assigned Apply tot his job
