Hebrew <> English Translator, Editor and Transcriber

Description: • This is a remote position. • Hebrew English - Translator, Editor, or Transcriber (Remote) • Status: Freelance Contractor • Global Language Strategies, a woman-owned small business headquartered in the Washington DC metropolitan region, is currently seeking professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit and/or transcribe legal documents between English and Hebrew in both directions. • Job Duties: Provide Hebrew English translations, editing, and/or transcription. • Edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms. • Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language. • Excellent written communication skills in English and the target foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign target language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. • Translate and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards. • Use domain-specific terminology. • Review and certify other translators’ work quality, as needed. • Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror source document format in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio. • ​Abide by a code of ethics when performing transcription and translation work. Requirements: • ***United States citizenship is required*** • Willing to undergo a U.S. government background check to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Moderate Level. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. • At least four years of experience in legal translation and/or editing between English and a foreign language. • At least four years of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription. • Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s). • **Preferred Qualifications:** • * ATA, NAJIT or other relevant professional certification Benefits: • 1099 Freelance Contract Apply tot his job
