You'll build and mentor a high impact design team while establishing design as a strategic pillar across the organization. This role demands someone who can balance hands-on craft with strategic leadership, a true player/coach who elevates design's influence while delivering exceptional experiences that demonstrate measurable business impact.WHAT YOU’LL DOBuild and lead a diverse, high-performing design organization across product design, design systems, and AI experience designCraft a forward-thinking design vision and strategy that positions Mural at the forefront of AI-enabled collaboration toolsScale design practices, processes, and critique culture that drive consistency and quality while fostering creativity and innovationPartner with executive leadership to ensure design has a seat at the table in key strategic decisionsMentor designers at all levels, providing clear growth paths while modeling exceptional craft in your own workChampion user-centered design principles in our AI initiatives, ensuring solutions balance innovation with usability, ethical considerations, and responsible AI practicesCollaborate with product and engineering leaders to create intelligent workflows that feel natural and enhance user capabilitiesEstablish a design language that gracefully incorporates AI capabilities while maintaining intuitive, cohesive experiencesWHAT YOU’LL BRING8+ years of design leadership experience with 5+ years managing design teams, preferably in SaaS, productivity tools, or creative collaboration productsImpressive portfolio demonstrating your personal design excellence and the impact of teams you've ledExperience designing AI-powered features or products that successfully reached marketTrack record of building, scaling, and nurturing high-performing design teams and establishing strong design systemsStrategic mindset with demonstrated success elevating design's influence across an organizationExcellent communication skills with ability to articulate design decisions to diverse stakeholdersDeep understanding of how to balance innovation with practical execution in a fast-moving environmentPassion for the future of work and collaborative technologiesThe base salary for this role ranges from $197,000 - $282,000 + bonus + benefits. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
