Comic book themed cafe in Brooklyn looking for an in-house Illustrator/Graphic Designer to create branding and social media content based on our comic book!

5-25 hours a week depending on current projects.
Weekly projects may include mini comic book panels, posters, social media content.
We need someone who…
Can develop original characters from concept to final execution, including visual identity, personality, symbolism, and narrative role.
Has the ability to design for multiple platforms, including comics, social media campaigns, and limited-edition collector materials.
Understands how art functions as cultural commentary and resistance through storytelling and satire.
Is willing to participate in behind-the-scenes documentation.
Can collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate creative workflows, feedback cycles, and professional expectations.
Key Skills
Graphic Design
• Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator or an adjacent software
• Eye for aesthetics, understands the importance of typography
Illustration
• Digital or physical (as long as it can be translated onto a digital platform)
• Character creation and recreations of our original pre-existing characters
Comic Book Experience
• Either personally or professionally, we need someone who understands the layout of a comic book with a knack for storytelling
Animation (Not required but highly encouraged)
• Ability to animate our characters for short 5-20 second videos
• Possibility of mixed media projects where the illustrations are in real-life scenes
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
