About this role:

Straight Arrow is seeking a creative and versatile Graphic Designer with 4–5 years of experience in a digital or broadcast news environment. This role will play a key part in elevating Straight Arrow’s visual content across digital, social, marketing and newsletter platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong design fundamentals with a passion for visual communication and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Visual Design & Content Creation

Design high-quality visual assets, including digital graphics, marketing materials, featured images and branded content.

Create engaging visuals for social media, web, email campaigns and other digital platforms.

Ensure all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and maintains visual consistency.

Brand Development

Contribute to the evolution and consistency of the brand identity across all channels.

Translate creative concepts into compelling visuals that communicate the brand’s voice and mission.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, editorial, and leadership.

Interpret creative briefs and provide design solutions that meet business and editorial goals.

Present concepts and incorporate feedback effectively.

Project Management & Execution

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through final delivery.

Maintain organized project files and adhere to timelines and deadlines.

Quality & Performance

Deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work under tight deadlines.

Stay up to date with design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve output.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Must have had formal training in design/art. Please don't apply if you are not a designer.

4–5+ years of professional graphic design experience (agency, media, or in-house).

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD; After Effects a plus).

Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of digital, social, newsletter and branding work.

Excellent typography, layout, color and visual storytelling skills.

Ability to take initiative, manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.

Great attention to detail with strong spelling and grammar skills

Passion for unbiased journalism and understanding of the current media landscape.

Must provide a link to a current demo reel.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000.
