GIS Solution Architect - ESRI/ArcGIS (W2/Remote/Contract/USA)
Job Title: GIS Solution Architect
Location: Remote / Candidates must live in one of the following states:
Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia
Duration: 6-12 Months

Title: GIS Solutions Architect
What You'll Do:
ā¢ Design and architect end-to-end Esri GIS solutions aligned with business, security, and performance requirements
ā¢ Lead architecture and implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise (10.8.1+), including high availability and disaster recovery designs
ā¢ Develop and review Python and ArcPy scripts for automation, data processing, and system maintenance
ā¢ Guide the use and configuration of ArcGIS Pro for advanced spatial analysis and data management
ā¢ Design and support Esri mobile workflows using Field Maps, Survey123, and related tools
ā¢ Architect and manage enterprise geodatabases, including Oracle SDE, with attention to performance, versioning, and data integrity
ā¢ Design and implement data integration pipelines using tools such as FME and APIs
ā¢ Define and support cloud-hosted ArcGIS Enterprise solutions (IaaS and PaaS where applicable)
ā¢ Establish CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and infrastructure-as-code practices for GIS solutions
ā¢ Define and implement automated testing strategies for GIS services, scripts, and integrations
ā¢ Collaborate with developers, GIS analysts, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders to ensure solution alignment
ā¢ Provide technical leadership, documentation, and architectural guidance across projects
Required Skills & Experience:
ā¢ Strong experience as a Solution Architect, GIS Architect, or senior GIS engineer
ā¢ Expert knowledge of the Esri GIS platform, including:
o ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 or higher
o ArcGIS Pro
o Esri mobile tools (Field Maps, Survey123)
ā¢ Advanced Python development skills, including extensive use of ArcPy
ā¢ Hands-on experience with enterprise geodatabases, particularly Oracle SDE
ā¢ Proven experience with data integration and ETL, including FME
ā¢ Experience designing and supporting cloud-hosted ArcGIS Enterprise environments
ā¢ Strong understanding of deployment pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices
ā¢ Experience implementing automated testing for GIS workflows and services
ā¢ Solid understanding of GIS security, authentication, and access control models
ā¢ Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
ā¢ Esri Technical Certification(s)
ā¢ Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
ā¢ Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
ā¢ Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
ā¢ Background in large-scale or mission-critical GIS implementation
Minimum Requirements:
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science OR Associate's degree in computer science with two years of architecture-related experience OR high school diploma/GED with four years' architecture-related experience.
Work Experience: Typically twelve or more years of architecture or related experience (in addition to any experience identified above).
Additional Requirements: Physical demand level is Sedentary 1. Certification in technology relevant to position preferred.
