GIS Map Developer (Remote)
About the position
Tier One Technologies is seeking a GIS Map Developer for our US Government client. This will be a 100% remote Contract-to-Hire position. SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Work with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and platforms, along with programming languages and tools for web mapping and spatial data management.
ā¢ Analyze and translate business requirements into efficient geospatial software designs that meet the needs of the organization and align with the business goals and processes.
ā¢ Design and develop mapping applications, including user interfaces and spatial analysis features.
ā¢ Build interactive web maps using web mapping technologies.
ā¢ Handle and manipulate geospatial data.
ā¢ Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS and cloud-based platforms for mapping tasks.
ā¢ Automate geospatial analysis processes and customize GIS software for project needs.
ā¢ Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to ensure database design meets project requirements.
Requirements
ā¢ A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline.
ā¢ 8+ years of IT-related experience.
ā¢ Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software for geospatial applications.
ā¢ Working knowledge of GIS platforms like ArcGIS, QGIS, and web mapping technologies.
ā¢ Familiarity with spatial databases and cloud computing services.
ā¢ Understanding of geospatial data formats, projections, and cartography.
ā¢ Working knowledge of GIS principles and spatial data concepts.
ā¢ Knowledge/experience with Agile Methodologies and SDLC practices.
ā¢ Familiarity with DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab).
ā¢ Familiarity with Change Management, Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, etc.) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
ā¢ Prior experience with Cloud architecture, design and development.
ā¢ Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
ā¢ Excellent communication skills.
ā¢ Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
ā¢ Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
ā¢ Must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
ā¢ Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
ā¢ Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
