I am a now retired double board certified surgeon with doctorate degrees in pharmacy and medicine. In 2012 I had a severe traumatic injury that resulted in 8 surgeries in 18 months. 5. Social Media has resulted in too many deceiving, misleading, unverifiable or false claims. The public has lost sight of what an expert in health and wellness is and should be. I feel very strongly that an expert in health and wellness should have a high level of knowledge and understanding in human biology and physiology, pharmacology and clinical medicine considerations and applications. Anything less should be unacceptable if an individual truly prioritizes their health and wellness.
9. Optimal healthy aging, preventative health and longevity involves numerous considerations. Some are out of our control, others are not. Those in our control are not as complicated as Socual Media and self appointed experts make it seem. We recommend:
A. Regular if not daily exercise, the more vigorous the better.
B. Meditation or self awareness daily.
C. Healthy diet limiting red meat, carbs, dairy products, fatty foods and alcohol. Avoid fried foods, highly processed foodstuffs, anything with artificial dyes. Target a BMI less than 28 to avoid obesity. Obesity, diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease are a continuum.
D.
