Geographic Information Systems Technician
Work Mode: Remote
Job Description:
The client is seeking a full-time remote GIS technician to map and add attributes for approximately 25,000 existing legal documents (primarily deeds, easements and judgements). This GIS technician will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Review and map legal documents received by Real Property Services.
ā¢ Interpret legal descriptions and geographical identifiers to create GIS features.
ā¢ Use ArcGIS Pro to digitally map legal descriptions into highly accurate spatial data.
ā¢ Create lines and polygon features based on written legal descriptions.
ā¢ Access and review .tif and .pdf documents stored in SQL databases.
ā¢ Populate GIS attributes including TPU Reference Numbers and County Recording Numbers.
ā¢ Add links to source documentation within GIS datasets.
ā¢ Coordinate with IT GIS staff for QA/QC processes.
ā¢ Validate mapping accuracy and perform edits as needed.
ā¢ Communicate with Real Estate Specialists to resolve mapping complexities.
ā¢ Participate in project kickoff meetings and ongoing project discussions.
ā¢ Maintain productivity targets of mapping 50ā100 legal documents monthly.
ā¢ Support development and delivery of ArcGIS geodatabase solutions.
Required Skills:
ā¢ Strong hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro.
ā¢ Broad understanding of legal documents such as deeds, easements, vacations, and judgments.
ā¢ Ability to read and understand legal descriptions.
ā¢ Experience creating GIS features from written legal descriptions.
ā¢ Strong understanding of GIS feature classes and geodatabase structures.
ā¢ Experience performing GIS data QA/QC.
ā¢ Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
ā¢ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
ā¢ Experience supporting utilities, public sector, or land records projects.
ā¢ Knowledge of SQL databases.
ā¢ Familiarity with property records and county recording systems.
ā¢ Experience handling large-scale GIS data projects.
Deliverables:
ā¢ Map 50ā100 legal documents monthly.
ā¢ Collaborate with real property experts regarding complex documents.
ā¢ Deliver an ArcGIS geodatabase containing approximately 25,000 mapped legal documents.
