Genetic Counseling Intern

The Summer Intern program at CooperSurgical provides university students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees. The Genetic Counseling Intern will work with the genetic counseling team to support efforts to demonstrate the clinical utility of CooperSurgical genomics products via gathering clinical outcome data. The Intern will work closely with members of the genetic counseling, commercial, and R&D teams, as well as CooperSurgical clients and patients. The Intern will have exposure to multiple aspects of the CooperSurgical genomics business, including; genetic counseling services, R&D, business development, and project management. The Intern will play a critical role in demonstrating the value of CooperSurgical genomics innovations. ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions Participate as a remotely based member of the broader genetic counseling team. Contribute to data gathering efforts regarding clinical outcomes of CooperSurgical genomics testing, particularly those pertaining to recent and upcoming product launches Engage in research efforts applying clinical outcomes to demonstrate efficacy of CooperSurgical genomics products and services. Partake in clinical and/or commercial meetings and activities supporting demonstrating the clinical value of CooperSurgical genomics products. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred. Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently. Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional demeanor. Experience Not required, but prior Internship or customer service experience is a plus. Prior exposure to appropriate handling of Patient Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations is a plus. Working knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis is desirable. Education Current university student, majoring in Biological Sciences entering their Junior or Senior year. Completed course work in genetics and cell biology
