Generator Service Technician - Northern Virginia (Field-Based)
Overview
A national power solutions company is expanding its presence in Northern Virginia and hiring a Generator Service Technician to support commercial and industrial clients throughout the region.
Compensation
ā¢ $28-$34/hour + overtime (~10 hours/week typical)
ā¢ Take-home service vehicle
ā¢ Full benefits + 401(k)
The Role
This is a field-based position covering the Northern Virginia / DC metro area. Technicians operate from home and travel to customer sites daily, supporting critical backup power infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Troubleshoot and repair generator systems (5kW-4000kW)
ā¢ Perform routine maintenance and inspections
ā¢ Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
ā¢ Complete service reports and documentation
ā¢ Provide strong customer-facing service
What They're Looking For
ā¢ Mechanical and/or electrical repair experience
ā¢ Diesel engine or generator exposure preferred
ā¢ Ability to work independently in a field environment
ā¢ Strong communication and customer service skills
ā¢ Valid driver's license
Nice to Have
ā¢ Generator or heavy equipment experience
ā¢ Electrical certifications
