General Laborer - Excavating Division (Reese)
Description Who We Are: DHT Group, based out of Reese, Michigan has been ensuring safety and satisfaction for over 40 years. DHT is hiring at all facilities with additional Michigan locations in Newport, Sault Ste. Marie, and Port Huron, as well as Bellefontaine, Ohio. DHT has several divisions including Tanker, Gravel Train, Flatbed, Van, Excavating, and Landscape Supply. DHT also operates full-service repair facilities. General Laborers are entry level employees who work under direct supervision in varying aspects of DHT’s Excavating division. The Laborer will be safety-oriented and safely assist in landscaping and excavating projects as needed. General Laborer Essential Duties Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by taking extra precautions to work with care and consideration Perform a variety of tasks such as digging trenches, raking, and shoveling, in commercial/road construction projects Load and unload equipment from trailers and vehicles Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner Work with the Excavating crew to help in the yard Assist with grading sites Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures Help assemble pipes for construction projects Set up or inspect equipment prior to operation Become familiar with site plans, machine capabilities and limitations, and with efficient and safe digging procedures Perform minor maintenance on equipment Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation General Laborer Compensation Package Employee-Owned Company - Employee Stock Option Program 401K with Partial Employer Match Paid Vacation after 1-year employment Weekly Pay Healthcare Insurance (Medical, HSA, Vision, Dental) after 30 days Short-term & Long-term disability Company provided life insurance (buy-up option also available) Legal Shield & ID Theft Protection Pet Insurance Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to read/use a measuring tape and have basic math skills Strong work ethic Willingness to be trained in various tasks Training provided to the right candidate General Laborer Preferred Requirements Six months to one year of experience in a similar position preferred General Laborer Physical Requirements This job is performed primarily outdoors in extreme environmental conditions Hard, physical labor and standing on your feet for long hours Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen
