About 40% of Welocalize staff hold this position and their performance decides the health of the company.Translator is also a position that brings up talents for other roles in the company, not only for language related jobs but also for management and business.MAIN DUTIESThe following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and areas of ownership of a Translator:Perform translations in various translation tools for assigned clients and projectsTranslate various types of content, e.g. marketing, help, UI, or regulated contentSupport the team with copy-edit tasks on selected content typesMaster the standard CAT tools and tools associated with translation work for internal clients (e.g. tools for creating queries or checking the live UI elements)Precisely follow the established translation process, e.g. always raise queries when there is a need toPrecisely follow the style guide and overall client requirementsImprove based on the corrections made by senior team members as well as the client reviewersKeep track of personal error statistics and work on the weak spotsTake part in the internal trainings and the ones organized by the clientsParticipate in the error arbitration processMeet the KPIs in terms of productivity, on time delivery and qualityTake part in the internal quality meetings and the quality calls organized by the client for the whole teamConstantly analyze own gaps and think of what assistance the senior members can provide to help address thoseMeet the goals set by the team managerPerformance MeasuresHourly and daily productivityOn time deliveryQuality scores Overall PerformanceTranslator's overall performance, including but not limited to one's attitude toward work, sense of responsibility, communication skills, team work spirit and attendance, will be appraised by Team Lead. Translators need to clearly and consistently meet expected performance results.REQUIREMENTSEducation Level University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or equivalent combination of education and experienceFluent in host language, both written and spoken, fluent in respective translated language, both written and spokenExperience & Relevant SkillsNative-level in Irish Gaelic and English, both written and spoken2-4 years of experience in translation/localization/editing or content writingGood understanding of the localization processGood user experience of standard software, such as Windows and Office applications. Experience with CAT tools.Ability to learn new localization tools and applications quicklyExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work with tight deadlinesAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, linguistsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
