The Occupational Health and Safety Diploma Program is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in OHS courses, developing curriculum, and fostering a positive learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
⢠Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive OHS courses.
⢠Prepare and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and exams.
⢠Provide students with timely and constructive feedback. Ability to submit marks/records promptly.
⢠Provide direct classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment.
⢠Mentor and advise students on academic and career goals.
⢠Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.
⢠Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
⢠Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
⢠Stay current with industry trends and integrate relevant information into the curriculum.
Skills & Abilities:
⢠Have an interest in creating and implementing creative modes of course delivery.
⢠Be energetic in leading and motivating students.
⢠Strong organizational and time management abilities.
⢠Have well developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
⢠Be committed to student motivation, achievement, and quality service.
⢠Have a strong orientation to student success and satisfaction.
⢠Be empathetic to student needs.
⢠Be able to work effectively in a team environment.
⢠Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications:
⢠Diploma in OHS or equivalent; a related Bachelor's or Master's degree in OHS or Education or related area would be an asset.
⢠Professional certification (ROH/CIH/CRSP/CSP) designation.
⢠Minimum 5 years practical experience in occupational health & safety.
⢠Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level is an asset.
⢠Equivalencies will be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
