Freight Dispatcher

Overview Join our dynamic logistics team as a Freight Dispatcher, where you'll be the vital link ensuring seamless coordination of freight movement and transportation operations. Responsibilities • Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to ensure timely delivery. • Utilize GPS and GIS tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation efficiency. • Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and warehouse teams via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette to relay dispatch instructions clearly. • Manage data entry tasks related to freight movements, shipping & receiving logs, and transportation documentation with accuracy and attention to detail. • Oversee fleet management activities including vehicle dispatching, tracking via GPS, and maintenance scheduling to ensure operational readiness. • Collaborate with 3PL providers and internal teams to coordinate shipping schedules, freight loads, and delivery priorities. • Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain and logistics operations. Experience • Proven experience in dispatching within a transportation or logistics environment, with familiarity in freight coordination and shipping & receiving procedures. • Strong understanding of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or AS400 is highly preferred. • Demonstrated analysis skills with the ability to interpret GPS data, GIS mapping tools, and transportation planning software. • Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette for engaging with drivers, carriers, and internal stakeholders. • Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced setting. • Knowledge of fleet management practices including vehicle tracking via GPS and maintenance scheduling is a plus. • Experience working with logistics software like SyteLine or similar ERP systems enhances operational efficiency.
