Overview Rescue is a full-service marketing agency focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies. The Job We are looking for a dynamic, high-performing Freelance Web Developer II to lead the development and delivery of complex and accessible web applications that meet client expectations. This role requires adherence to best practices, hands-on development, and strategic collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve superior technical outcomes. This position is remote and may be located anywhere in the United States. Availability for meetings and communication during the hours of 9am - 5pm PST is required. Responsibilities • Develops sophisticated, responsive, and functional websites, ensuring alignment with design comps and industry standards • Ensures high-performance and maintainability across all assigned projects • Builds and optimizes websites for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility; troubleshoots complex technical issues • Conducts thorough quality assurance checks, incorporating rigorous testing methods • Executes analytics setup and integration, including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager • Ensures websites adhere to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards • Implements innovative technologies and methodologies to drive project success from conception to deployment • Adheres to best practices in development and project execution • Ability to work with Figma design comps and prototypes Strategic Collaboration & Project Oversight • Collaborates with digital producer, UX/UI designers, and Creative leads to identify strategic opportunities and cost-effective web development approaches • Works with the digital producer to estimate project budgets and timelines; communicates potential challenges proactively • Partners with UI/UX teams to deliver visually consistent, user-centric web solutions • Coordinates with QA teams to ensure deliverables meet standards and address issues promptly Individual Workload Management • Self-manages project work to deliver on time and within budget, with minimal revisions • Communicates with the digital producer to manage budgets and timelines • Manages time effectively and raises concerns about scope and allocated time, proposing solutions • Maintains adherence to brand guidelines and channel best practices • Ensures all work meets brand and client standards before internal reviews Required Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years relevant experience • JavaScript (ES6+), CSS3, and HTML5 • Proficiency in Vue.js and Nuxt.js • PHP and MySQL • Version control (Git) • Build tools such as Vite and Webpack • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure Location: Remote in the United States Status: W2, Part-time, Temporary Pay Range: $40 - $50 per hour Benefits: Learn more about the benefits of working at Rescue through the Benefits and Perks section on our careers page: Benefits include generous health plans, paid time off, life and short-term disability insurance, and 401(k) with employer matching.
