Career.zycto is actively seeking highly skilled and experienced Freelance Translators to join our growing network of language professionals for various upcoming projects. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated linguists who excel in delivering accurate, culturally nuanced, and timely translations across a range of subject matters. As a Freelance Translator, you will play a crucial role in bridging communication gaps, enabling businesses and individuals to connect effectively across linguistic barriers. We are particularly interested in translators proficient in Kinyarwanda, English, French, Swahili, and other regional languages.
You will be responsible for translating various types of content, including but not limited to business documents, marketing materials, technical manuals, legal texts, educational content, and general communications. Each project will require a meticulous approach, strong attention to detail, and adherence to specific client guidelines and deadlines. Key Responsibilities
• Translate a wide array of documents and content from a source language to your native target language(s) with accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
• Ensure all translations maintain the original meaning, tone, style, and context.
• Perform thorough linguistic quality assurance, proofreading, and editing of your own translations to eliminate errors.
• Adhere strictly to client-specific glossaries, style guides, and project instructions.
• Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Utilize translation memory (TM) tools, CAT tools, and other linguistic software effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality and data security for all translated materials.
• Communicate effectively with project managers regarding project status, challenges, and queries.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new linguistic tools, technologies, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
• Native fluency in at least one target language (e.g., Kinyarwanda, English, French, Swahili).
• Exceptional command of at least one source language (e.g., English, French, Kinyarwanda).
• Proven experience in professional translation (minimum 2 years).
• Strong understanding of cultural nuances and ability to adapt content for target audiences.
• Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills in both source and target languages.
• Proficiency in using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast).
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related field.
• Specialization in specific industries such as legal, medical, technical, marketing, or finance.
• Experience with machine translation post-editing (MTPE).
• Membership in professional translation associations (e.g., ATA, ITI).
• Familiarity with localization best practices and tools.
• Portfolio of previous translation work demonstrating expertise and quality.
