We will combine golf media, production and commerce businesses, aiming to be the ultimate destination for golf enthusiasts of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, where they can immerse themselves in the essence of the sport. Position Overview: Skratch is a media publisher that sits at the intersection of golf and culture, using authentic storytelling and a high standard of quality to highlight aspects of the game that golf obsessives get out of bed for. We are seeking a freelance contributing writer to contribute engaging, insightful, and accurate articles to our editorial website’s style vertical. Ideally someone with established networks of sources in the golf product industry or a strong ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with sources across brands and agencies. The Contributing Writer will report directly to and work hand-in-hand with the Managing Editor and Editor in Chief of Skratch. The site’s section editors report to the Managing Editor. • Please note that while there are immediate opportunities outlined in this listing, we are accepting freelancer projects and submissions on a rolling basis and availabilities and assignments are subject to change month to month Responsibilities: • Pitch fresh and timely story ideas following the zeitgeist of the golf world regularly. • Ability to turnaround clean copy on tight deadlines. • Contribute 3-5 weekly, ready-to-publish articles. • Align with brand’s editorial and affiliate marketing strategy in content creating editorial-first listicles, gift guides and other product-based content optimized for affiliate partnerships. • Adhere to Skratch brand standards, strategic initiatives and established voice across platforms. • Cultivate and maintain a deep network of sources in golf industries and on professional tours. • Non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. Qualifications: • 5+ years professional experience in related field. • Background in golf preferred; interest in golf required. • Self-starter with enthusiasm for innovative ideas and thinking outside the box. • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure in a team environment. • Experience with affiliate marketing, platforms and commerce-based content creation. • Strong writing and editing skills including grammar, style and spelling. • Commitment to high-quality work product that meet brand and fan standards. • Understanding of the current digital and social media landscape, including creating content for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms.
