Financial Planning Analyst
Penn State University is seeking a Financial Planning Analyst to support the Eberly College of Science in budget and financial matters. The role involves providing expert guidance on financial controls, assisting in long-term financial planning, and managing labor distribution and budget activities.ResponsibilitiesAssist the FPAC Labor Distribution (LD) Lead in processing labor distribution and ensuring accurate salary allocations across funding sourcesProcess labor-related journal entries and support the resolution of labor distribution and pay and effort inquiriesSupport pay and effort reporting activities, including assisting with compliance and audit-related requestsManage workforce planning and labor distribution for the CollegeAssist in budget and resource data analysis to provide data-driven recommendations and financial insights; gather, compile, and manipulate data; may determine analytical methods to be usedAssist in the development, maintenance, and refinement of financial models to support long-range planning and scenario analysisAssist in the various components of budget activities; participate in the conceptual development of the various budget processes and specifications for projectsReview financial reports to understand and explain variances between budget and actuals for the assigned units in the College; analyze trends in revenues, expenditures, enrollments, and funding sources; ensure appropriate spending and billing practices are being followedMonitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying areas of concern or opportunityParticipate in the development of financial dashboards and reporting tools for internal stakeholders and senior leadershipAssist in the preparation of the annual operating budgets, ensuring alignment with unit and institutional prioritiesSupport compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and audit requirements; oversee audits as requiredPartner with other university offices to ensure consistent data sources and accurate financial projectionsMay supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance managementSkillsBachelor's Degree1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedSuccessful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policiesSuccessful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checksApplicants must be authorized to work in the U.SBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageRobust retirement plansSubstantial paid time off which includes holidays, vacation and sick timeGenerous 75% tuition discount, available to employees as well as eligible spouses and childrenCompany OverviewThere’s a reason Penn State consistently ranks among the top one percent of the world’s universities.
