Financial Analyst Levels I, II and III

The Financial Analyst Levels I, II, and III roles involve providing support and analysis for the Management and Budget Unit, including budget development, expense tracking, and reporting.ResponsibilitiesDevelop budgets and projections for future years for the departments of Operations, Maintenance, Law, Revenue Management, and others as neededTrack actual expenses for non-labor categories against the budget, investigate differences, and provide variance explanationsUndertake economic, revenue, and/or expenditure research projects as neededContribute to the writing and production of the Year-End Report, Annual Reports, Financial Plan narratives, and other materialsAssist in the development and monitoring of the personnel budget, including capital reimbursable hoursOther duties as assignedSkillsDemonstrated proficiency in or ability to learn the Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookProficiency in and/or ability to learn communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in and/or ability to learn organizational and presentation skillsProficiency in and/or ability to learn to work with all internal levels within a given organizationProficiency in and/or ability to learn, communicate, and interact well with external agenciesProficiency in and/or ability to learn to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possibleProficiency in and/or ability to learn analytical and/or quantitative skillsBachelor's degree in business, Transportation, Public Policy or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degreeMinimum 2 years of related experience for Analyst – Level IIMinimum 4 years of related experience for Analyst – Level IIIKnowledge of Multidimensional Database Management systems, such as Hyperion EssbaseMaster's degree in a related fieldFamiliarity with the MTA's policies and proceduresFamiliarity with the New York City Subway System and its operationsCompany OverviewThe Metropolitan Transportation Authority is North America's largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people in the 5,000-square-mile area fanning out from New York City through Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut.
