Financial Analyst

The role involves providing standard transactional support within the accounting cycle, performing account reconciliations, and assisting in financial analysis and reporting tasks.ResponsibilitiesProvides standard transactional support for a process within an Accounting cycle or client account / product lineAbility to complete and resolve assigned basic account reconciliations independentlyIdentifies issues or discrepancies in basic transactional accountingUnderstand GAAP requirements relevant to the financial cycle or portfolio supportedBasic understanding of audit and internal control requirementsMaintains accurate and complete records for auditsGathers audit support data upon requestEntry level knowledge of current accounting systems and MS Office suite of softwareBasic understanding of the interactions between financial systems related to the portfolio supportedAble to work with IT and operational teams on basic system setupsSimple data extracts to support the preparation of forecastsProvides relevant trending analysis to support the preparation of forecastsResponds to internal requests for simple ad hoc analysis with guidance from senior team membersSupport preparation of internal reportsProvides support/input into basic business casesSingle, high volume or multiple, low volume portfoliosWith standard transactionsSome Concerned parties interaction with transactional level dataGenerate routine transactional data to support operational decision makingAwareness of financial obligations of portfolioSupports delivery of contract/portfolio deliverables of a financial nature in a timely and efficient manner, in areas of less complexityUnderstand basic business processes and ensures compliance and ensures appropriate documentationIdentification of basic issues or discrepanciesHas demonstrated a curiosity for the industry and business which they supportHas made initial connections with operational counterparts in support of transactional processesSkillsCollege/University graduation or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CGA or equivalent courses)Minimum of 1 to 3 years of related experienceAbility to prepare month end journal entries to support proper transaction reportingBasic understanding of the interactions between sub ledger and general ledgerUnderstanding of audit requirementsAbility to identify issues or discrepancies in basic transactional accountingAbility to communicate processes and procedures within the team and to internal customersAbility to prepare basic memos and provide basic variance explanationsEntry level knowledge of current accounting systems and MS Office suite of softwareRegistered in an Accounting designation program (CGA, CMA)Company OverviewBGIS is a global leader in integrated facility management services.
